OUR COMMITMENT
Responsible Gaming is at the forefront of the Sports Betting Alliance’s mission. SBA member companies bet365, BetMGM, DraftKings, Fanatics, and FanDuel invest tens of millions of dollars annually to develop and deploy innovative, data-driven tools and strategies that help players make responsible decisions from their very first login and throughout their entire product journey.
This commitment to player safety is what sets the regulated industry apart from illegal operators, which offer little to no consumer protections or responsible gaming tools. Government regulators approve every product before it enters the market.
Combined, SBA members have over 200 employees dedicated exclusively to building and operating Responsible Gaming programs — and every employee is trained to spot signs of problem gaming.

ToolS and Approach
SBA member companies embed RG tools throughout the customer experience, making it simple to access the full array of options with a single click. Here’s how legal operators keep players protected.
Onboarding & Education
New players receive messaging upon sign-up explaining available RG tools and encouraging their use. Players are reminded of these resources upon subsequent logins, through direct messaging, marketing, and social media channels.
Deposit, Wager & Time Limits
Players can set personalized limits on deposits, betting amounts, and time spent on the platform to stay in control of their play.
Reality Checks & Play Stats
Because awareness is key to responsible play, SBA companies provide players their daily, monthly, and lifetime stats so they can track wins, losses, and time spent on the app. Pop-up messages during sessions show elapsed time and may suggest taking a break.
Cooling Off Periods
Players can initiate a cooling off period at any time, an irrevocable decision to pause play for a set number of days, weeks, or months.
Self-Exclusion
Players can self-exclude from gambling for a period of years or permanently. Once a player opts to self-exclude, they are prohibited from participating in regulated gaming, and companies are prohibited from marketing to that person. If an SBA member company identifies a player is not playing safely, they may act in the player’s best interest and implement account suspensions or bans.
